The progress and peril of America's war on terror are coming into focus in Wisconsin, where federal agents are interrogating Arab students even as the state's outspoken senator, Democrat Russ Feingold, is warning that a new anti-terrorism law steals freedoms from foreigners and citizens alike.

Caught in the crossfire of the war at home are people like Asif Sheikh, 21, a native Pakistani who heads the 225-member Muslim Students Association at UW-Madison.

Muslim men in America, he says, are willing to do their part to combat terrorism.
