Asda has poached the woman who formulated Matalan's controversial M&S-bashing ad campaign as head of marketing for its George clothing brand.
Claire Bulman will replace Amanda Gavan, who left the Wal-Mart-owned retailer three months ago to "take a career break".
As head of marketing at George, Bulman will oversee marketing for the range in the UK in addition to spearheading its European expansion. Asda plans to roll out George to Wal-Mart stores in Germany next year, after introducing the brand to three of its German stores. The retailer is also understood to be looking at other European markets.
