Is Methanol A Clean Air Panacea? From time to time, the writer of this column has discussed the implications of competitive motor fuels. Now things seem to have reached the point where such competitive fuels, sparked by legislative activity, will soon be marketplace activities which could pose potential problems and damage to the public and the petroleum marketer.
For example, Chevron announced recently that it will sell methanol in 25 California stations. Chevron, as one of the largest transportation fuel suppliers in the country, also will be among the first of the major oil companies to retail methanol to the public.
