When Jovonna and Jerry Kingkade moved into their new Deer Park home last year, they wanted its half-acre back yard and $7,500 play set to be something their four daughters would enjoy.
But problems with the home's septic system have not only made the back-yard lawn uncomfortably squishy, but also put the play set on top of a small hill never intended by the original plans. Similar septic system problems are currently being experienced by about a quarter of the homes in the nearby Estates of Lake Barrington subdivision - with whom the Kingkades share an installation contractor, Lake-Cook Trenching.
