Vitamin producers have been fined a total of [euro]855.22M for a series of long-running price and market-share fixing agreements, under which they carved up large parts of the European market.
The European Commission (EC) named Roche as the instigator, and BASF as its sidekick, in almost all cartels. Roche was fined 6462M, and BASF [euro]296.16M. A full list of the companies involved and fined appears in the Table below.
The fines are related to vitamins A, E, B1, B2, B5, B6, C, D3, biotin (H), folic acid (M), beta carotene and carotenoids, However, the EC waived fines in vitamins B1 and B6 for technical reasons.
