Dec. 23--SPRINGFIELD, Ill.-Oh, the simplicity of buying gift certificates for holiday presents: They're a cinch to mail, they won't weigh down your shopping bag, and they're a bit more personal than cold, hard cash.
And for the first time in Illinois, gift certificates no longer have to weigh down the retailers selling them.
Under a recently launched change in the state law, retailers participating in a new program, called "EverCASH," promise the gift certificates and gift cards they sell will never expire.
