THE DOT-COM IMPLOSION
AS I WAS CLEANING out my nightstand this week, I found a relic of the Internet go-go days: a 14-month-old issue of The Industry Standard - the weekly "News Magazine of the Internet Economy."
Packed full of advertisements from companies such as Nvst.com and Vitessa, the 224-page glossy was a physical reminder of the good ol' days when dot-coms bathed in cash and venture capitalists were celebrities.
Flipping through the pages of the magazine was kind of like taking a ride in a time machine.
One story talked about a "B2B Comeback." Another - titled "Layoffs, Schmayoffs" ...
