The trip is just two-tenths of a mile, about the distance of a single lap around an Olympic track, but for Martinez native Gary Clayton, it is the journey of a lifetime.
Clayton, who is scheduled to carry the Olympic torch as it passes through the Bay Area next month, is dying. He doesn't know if he'll live long enough to fulfill his dream of participating in the relay, but he's going to try.
