HOUSE prices in Scotland are expected to rise in line with the UK average next year after experiencing the smallest increases over the past 12 months, economists forecast.

The price of houses north of the Border has risen steadily in the past year by nearly 4 per cent, compared with the UK average of 10 per cent.

The Bank of Scotland forecasts that continuing economic growth and affordable housing will underpin a healthy property market as the country moves into 2002.
