IN Saturday's article it was noted that the output per head in Northern Ireland is now about 22 per cent below that in the Republic. However, because the Republic invests a much higher proportion of its gross national product (GNP) than Northern Ireland, only 58.5 per cent of its GNP is absorbed by private consumption, as compared with over 80 per cent in Northern Ireland.
