Backed by new trucks and 0 percent financing, General Motors is likely to regain market share in 2001, its first notable recovery in more than a decade.
GM's overall December sales are expected to hold steady or rise, capping a full-year gain. December's overall industry sales could drop 1 percent or more from 2000, analysts forecast, as the marketing lure of 0 percent loans winds down.
Full-year U.S. sales will be reported this week. They are expected to be down about 2.4 percent from last year's record 17.4 million.
