Eight-year-old Claire Pitstick never envisioned she'd hit pay dirt in the first race of her life.
Yet there she stood Saturday afternoon with a hunk of log hanging around her neck declaring her the winner while others looked on longingly.
The annual hunt for the yule log at Lisle's Morton Arboretum is serious business, indeed.
OK, maybe not so serious.
"Do they have coffee stations along the way?" competitor Audrey Tofano of Mt. Prospect asked at the start of Saturday's hunt.
