Jan. 4--Footstar Inc., which sells shoes at malls and discount stores, is leaping into the department store business via a new partnership with the parent of Macy's.
Footstar said Thursday that it will take over 46 shoe departments located in Federated Department Stores, including the Macy's, Lazarus, and Rich's chains. New Jersey locations to be converted include Macy's stores at Garden State Plaza in Paramus and Rockaway Townsquare, said Jean Coggan, a spokeswoman for Cincinnati-based Federated.
