Branda Wiex and Jeff Simmons can't help feeling a bit jinxed.
Their first date was at Cafe Palms, the restaurant in the Hotel Washington that burned down with the rest of the building nearly seven years ago. Now, the place where they held their wedding reception is being torn down to make room for a new county courthouse.
"We're sorry to see it go. We can't believe it won't be here anymore," Wiex said after eating at the Wilson Street Grill for the last time Monday night.
The couple was hoping to hold a party at the restaurant for their 10th wedding anniversary in May.
