Jan. 7--WOOD RIVER, Ill.--The economic recession, which was worsened by the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks, has hurt several businesses, including the airline industry.
But how are laser repair businesses doing?
Peter Zimmer, the president and chief executive officer of Wood River-based Telsar Laboratories -- which repairs lasers used in the medical industry and also sells refurbished laser systems -- said the bad economy has severely hurt his business. Since Sept. 11, he has had to lay off four employees because of a significant dropoff in work.
