KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 7 Asia Pulse - Malaysia's Coincident Index in October 2001 rose 1.3 per cent to 203.2 points from 200.6 points registered in the previous month, the Statistics Department said.

It said four components responsible for the growth of the index were real sales in the manufacturing sector (+0.6 per cent), real gross imports (+0.5 per cent), real EPF contributions (+0.4 per cent) and real salaries and wages in the manufacturing sector (+0.1 per cent).

Its six-month smoothed growth rate had improved from -2.9 per cent in September 2001 to -0.2 per cent in October 2001, the department said in a statement.
