Michigan State wasn't going to find any sympathy at Williams Arena. Not after what the Gophers have been through.
Because for once, it was another team that had to play shorthanded. It was the Spartans who left wondering `What if?' after a 70-67 Gophers victory.
Michigan State, a program that has lost 10 players over the past two years to graduation or to the NBA, arrived in Minneapolis knowing that forward Adam Ballinger wasn't going to play because of a badly sprained ankle.
