WITHOUT AN ARKANSAN in the White House for the first time in eight years, life in Arkansas began to return to normal in 2001. It would have been reasonable to expect the top stories of the year to be home-grown. Instead, the biggest business news in Arkansas was the biggest news story of the year all over the world.
