Jan. 5--The 140 employees at Candlewick Yarns in Lemoore spent their last few days at work cleaning equipment, packing supplies and saying their final goodbyes.
After nearly 28 years in business, the carpet yarn manufacturing plant will close its doors Sunday -- a year to the day since Pirelli Armstrong Tire Co. in Hanford closed its plant, putting 600 out of work.
Candlewick joins a growing list of manufacturing companies in the San Joaquin Valley shutting down because of an unstable economy. Like Pirelli, Candlewick's closure leaves many highly skilled workers ...
