About the art of Marc Chagall, which is currently the subject of an important exhibition at the Jewish Museum, almost every reader of this column is likely to have an opinion. Chagall was not only famous in his time but remains popular today. His work is now as familiar to us as that of Picasso and Matisse, and he lived longer than both.
