One thing that always seemed odd about the TV series "M#A#S#H" was its use of a laugh track. Many TV shows not filmed before a studio audience have used canned laughter, but unlike, say, "Gilligan's Island" or "Hogan's Heroes," it didn't always seem to fit the Korean War TV comedy adapted from Robert Altman's 1970 movie. Fans even debate the subject on the Internet.
Now, DVD viewers can decide for themselves with today's release of "M#A#S#H: Season One Collector's Edition" (Fox, $39.98). The three-disc set offers the audio option of hearing all 24 episodes from the first season with or ...
