Jan. 7--BELEN, N.M.--One small Valencia County business is making it easier for residents to dispose of tree trimmings and yard weeds.
Since the county transfer station no longer accepts yard waste, much of it ends up being dumped along rural roads and in the bosque. However, Earth WIPP will chip it up to make mulch or compost.
Earth WIPP -- the acronym is for Waste In Positive Places -- is on the Manzano Expressway north of Rio Communities between the Chamisa subdivision and Las Maravillas. The sign at the entrance is marked YOR -- Yes Organic Research.
