Dunaway loses bid for mayor
MARIETTA, Ga.--Bill Dunaway is blaming his loss in the recent mayoral race here on his sister and brother-in-law. That's because they filed suit against him only a few days before the election, claiming he diverted money from the sale of the family-owned Dunaway Drug Stores to Jack Eckerd Corp. this past June to his personal use.
Dunaway's sister Joyce and brother-in-laws Sidney Parker and their three children are minority owners of the Dunaway chain, holding a 37% share. They say some 20% of the $6.2 million paid by Eckerd for the chain's 16 stores went to Dunaway himself instead of the corporation--including payment for a ...
