OAKLAND, Calif. _ How much of an effect has the absence of center Erick Dampier had on the Warriors? Check this one out. Power forward Danny Fortson doesn't even lead the NBA in rebounding anymore.
We're talking about a guy who has averaged the most rebounds per 48 minutes (17.4) since the beginning of the 1997-98 season. But without Dampier's 6-foot-11, 265-pound frame taking up space in the middle, Fortson is finding more competition for the ball inside. Fortson entered Tuesday's game against the Milwaukee Bucks ranked second in the league in rebounding (12.9 rpg).
