Jan. 10--In a massive lawsuit with national implications, attorneys for health maintenance organizations argued Wednesday in a Miami court hearing that HMO doctors should be forced to go to arbitration rather than pursue a court case.
The hearing before a panel of the 11th Circuit Court of Appeals, based in Atlanta, was to consider oral arguments of an appeal from HMOs on a ruling by U.S. District Judge Federico Moreno that allowed the doctors' case to move toward trial.
