It's easy not to care about how a pizza comes together. Crusts, prebaked and shrink-wrapped, are convenient. Cheese, shredded and "vacuum-packed for freshness," add to the ease. Add some canned sauce and plenty of pepperoni slices to the mix and dinner's ready in a jiff.
But, set aside your pizza prejudices for a moment. Step out of the fast-food mode, too.
Consider the pizza in its original, unencumbered form: a basic flatbread seasoned with olive oil and salt, and baked with fresh herbs and tomato on top.
