BOSTON -- The future owners of the Boston Red Sox, together with the Jimmy Fund, today announced that their 50-year relationship will continue under the new ownership far into the future.
Tom Yawkey, the team's former owner, launched the relationship with the Jimmy Fund -- a major fundraising arm of Dana-Farber Cancer Institute in 1953. The Jimmy Fund has remained the Red Sox official charity since that time and has flourished over the decades.
