To the Editor:
The sudden, tragic death of Mel Zimmer has elicited many comments from local politicians about his career in public service, as well as the impact that a serious stroke Mel suffered years ago had on that career. His illnesss had robbed our community of a public servant who was committed to matters of principle and who viewed politics as an avenue to champion into action those principles.
I had the opportunity to work with Mel in the political arena in the 1970s, and noticed that this was a man who, very simply, was loved by those who worked with him. He was in the very best sense a man dedicated to the public good. He was an astute ...
