Jan. 9--WASHINGTON -- The California beekeepers who lead the nation in honey production must now judge a constitutionally tricky promotion program.
In a periodic ritual given new sting by the U.S. Supreme Court, honey producers next month will decide whether to keep or cut their 15-year-old National Honey Board.
The newly announced industry referendum gives San Joaquin Valley producers another say on a system that attracts both friends and foes.
