LOS ANGELES -- Virgin Records was a big winner at the 2002 American Music Awards as three superstars took home top honors for their music, further solidifying Virgin as a top powerhouse, kicking off another year of great music.
Aaliyah tops the list of Virgin winners this year by winning each of the two categories in which she was nominated. Her self-titled Blackground / Virgin Records debut garnered the top nod for "Favorite Album - Soul / R&B." Aaliyah also won the award for "Favorite Female Artist - Soul / R&B." The late artist's Virgin bow was widely recognized as one of the best albums of 2001.
