SEIDMAN OUT OF LINE ON CREDIT UNIONS
MADISON, Feb. 20 /PRNewswire/ -- L. William Seidman, FDIC and RTC chairman, should have enough bank and S&L problems to contend with without passing judgment on the nation's credit unions, according to Ralph Swoboda, president of the Credit Union National Association.
"My mother always told me 'Don't point fingers' and I think that's good advice for Mr. Seidman," Swoboda said.
In a speech Monday at a meeting of the American Bankers Association community banker conference in Arizona, Seidman criticized credit unions' growth and suggested they were overstating their financial strength.
