A new grant from the Commonwealth Fund will help further efforts to improve medication safety within the health care system. The Health Research and Educational Trust (HRET) of the American Hospital Association (AHA) will administer the grant, of $259,000, for the development of medication safety educational materials and tools.
Since 1999, the AHA and the Institute for Safe Medication Practices (ISMP) have been working to improve medication safety within hospitals, beginning with the national distribution of the ISMP Medication Safety Self Assessment tool.
