Alcatel, the French telecommunications company, has announced that it plans to sell equipment worth over 10 million euros (US$8.8 million) to SMARTS, the Russian regional mobile operator. A deal was recently signed between the two companies. SMARTS, Russia's fifth largest mobile company, shall use the equipment in order to build GSM-900/1800 networks in the Volga region.
