I was interested to read the letter from Walter Stoner in the June 2001 Cruise Travel with regard to the SS Washington. I sailed on that ship from Southampton to New York in February, 1946, as an English war bride. There were many of us aboard--all on our way to be reunited with our husbands and the start our new lives here. The accommodations were not too great (hammocks, etc.) ...
