SONNY LANDRETH Levee Town Sugar Hill 3925
Sonny Landreth is a pretty talented guy, a triple-threat singer, songwriter and instrumentalist (not to mention that he co-produced the album). Levee Town provides ample proof of that, and if any further proof is necessary, a quick look at the roster of friends recruited to help out reassures that this is far from just another vanity CD. Sonny keeps some pretty fast company -- Bonnie Raitt, John Hiatt, Jennifer Warnes and Herb Pedersen, to name just a few. What Landreth is all about is a hard-driving mix of Zydeco, blues and gut-busting rock and roll in the straight ahead, ZZ Top-mold (without the beards and fuzzy guitar ...
