2002 JAN 14 - (NewsRx.com & NewsRx.net) -- by Sonia Nichols, senior medical writer - Citing data from a new weight loss study, researchers in Germany say the diabetes drug acarbose is ineffective for weight maintenance after significant weight loss by the obese.
"Acarbose is a well-established antidiabetic drug and is known to exert a modest weight-lowering effect," remarked Hans Hauner and colleagues in Diabetes, Obesity and Metabolism.
