The early foul trouble should have been an omen for Wheaton College in its 71-61 Collegiate Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin loss, to No. 2 ranked Carthage.
Because it was at the foul line that the Thunder lost the game.
"We battled hard and played great defense," said Wheaton coach Bill Harris. "We had four more field goals, but the discrepancy at the foul line really hurt us."
Carthage (13-1, 2-1) shot 28 of 37 from the foul line, while Wheaton was 7 of 15.
