Meet the Artist * One of the best-known and most beloved artists of all time, Netherlands-born Vincent Van Gogh came to painting late in life. In 1886, when he was 33, he settled in Paris, France, where he was influenced by the art of the Impressionists and became familiar with the work of Japanese printmakers. Near the end of his life, he moved to Aries in the south of France. He lived, as he wrote to his brother Theo, in "a little yellow house with a green door and green blinds."
