TAKING U.S. VIA EAST BLOC
COLOGNE (FNS) -- West German men's wear manufacturers are hoping their export business to the United States will take off -- with the help of a stopover in the East Bloc.
Producers at The International Menswear Fair/Inter-Jeans shows here are eyeing Eastern Europe's relatively cheaper labor costs as a means to rebuild their export businesses to the U.S. market.

* The high cost of the German mark;
* High U.S. Customs duties;
* Problems dealing with U.S. retailers.
