PACIFIC SYMPHONY ORCHESTRA NAMES MUSIC DIRECTOR

IRVINE, Calif., Feb. 26 /PRNewswire/ -- Following a two-year, international search, the Pacific Symphony Orchestra has named Carl St. Clair as its new music director. The announcement was made at a press conference this morning held at the Orange County Performing Arts Center in Costa Mesa, Calif.

St. Clair, 37, who made his conducting debut with the Pacific Symphony Orchestra in a program of Mozart, Mahler and Tchaikovsky earlier this month, will begin his duties as music director on Oct. 1, 1990.
