Actor Jim Broadbent was the toast of the British film world yesterday after scooping a top Hollywood award for his role in the movie Iris.
Broadbent was honoured by the Hollywood Foreign Press Association with a Golden Globe for best actor in a supporting role.
He received the honour for his portrayal of Iris Murdoch's husband John Bayley, at the 59th annual Golden Globes Awards ceremony, which took place during the early hours of yesterday morning (UK time).
