Not long ago, electronics manufacturing was booming, as was the world's economy. It made little difference if companies were part of the "old" or the new economy, as prosperity seemed to be everywhere. How quickly the world has changed. Electronics manufacturing hit a wall, crushing sales and forcing the entire industry to respond, mostly with intelligence, but occasionally with short-sighted fear. Workforces have been cur, as have marketing initiatives. Although longterm fallout is a certainty, what the newer, streamlined electronics manufacturing industry will be after the downturn has run its course is open to conjecture.
