One night last semester, after cramming for final exams, Tirshana Sharma overlooked some pain in her eyes and fell asleep wearing her soft contact lenses. It's an oversight the 20-year-old biology student soon regretted.
Driving to the University of Colorado the next morning, Sharma noticed that light was making the pain worse. Soon, it hurt so much that she couldn't open one eye. The Lakewood resident rushed to the nearest doctor, who told her she'd developed a potentially blinding ulcerated cornea.
``It was one of the most painful things I've ever had in my life,'' she said.
