BLUE CARE NETWORK COMPLETES FINANCIAL TURNAROUND

SOUTHFIELD, Mich., March 6 /PRNewswire/ -- For the second consecutive year, the Blue Care Network (BCN) health maintenance organizations (HMOs) have reported an operating surplus to the state insurance bureau.

The 1989 net income was $23.8 million, up substantially from the $4.7 million surplus reported for year-end 1988.

Blue Care Network is comprised of four separate HMOs affiliated with Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Michigan (BCBSM). Each of the four showed a positive net gain.
