* Pigs, pigs and more cloned pigs. PPL Therapeutics, the company that helped produce Dolly the cloned sheep, announced the birth on Christmas Day of five cloned piglets. Noel, Angel, Star, Joy and Mary are not the first cloned piglets, but all have reportedly been genetically engineered to lack the gene alleged to cause human recipients to reject transplants of pig-tissue transplants.
Hot on the hooves of that announcement, however, was the revelation by rival biotechnology firm Immerge Bio Therapeutics (IBT) that it had already brought similarly cloned and engineered pigs to birth in September. IBT, ...
