The production and application of PVC in China has developed fast in the recent years. It is mainly attributed to the vigorous dissemination of the product in the building decoration sector. The output of PVC resin was 2.397 million tons and the import amount was 1.92 million tons in 2000. In the first 11 months of 2001 the output reached 2.367 million tons and the import amount reached 2.322 million tons, higher than the import amount for the whole of 2000. Although PVC has demand shortage and the price has made a sustained drop, the sales of additives has been promoted actually.
