David Gartzke, president of Allete Inc. of Duluth, has been named to the additional posts of chairman and CEO, the company said Wednesday.
Gartzke, a 27-year veteran with Allete, parent of Minnesota Power and other businesses, became president in August after Edwin Russell resigned as CEO. Arend Sandbulte, who preceded Russell as CEO, became chairman after Russell's departure, but the CEO position remained vacant. Sandbulte is stepping down as chairman and will retire from the board in May.
