If first impressions are lasting ones, David Gartzke, the newly named CEO of Allete Inc., could be well-remembered for some time. In his first official communication as head of the Duluth-based energy and auto services firm, Gartzke said the company turned in higher than expected fourth-quarter earnings, thanks to solid results in all of its diverse operations.
Allete reported fourth-quarter earnings of 37 cents a share before one-time items, compared with 27 cents for the same quarter a year ago. The consensus analysts' forecast for the quarter was 29 cents, according to First Call. ...
