HELLEBORES have two compelling characteristics - they are handsome and tough.
Their good looks are likely to increase each time a seed grows because the flowers often vary. They are weather-proof, too, and robust enough to grow in some of the most difficult soils such as chalk and dry, sandy loam.
The flowers range in colour from cream and pale yellow through pure green to flushed pink, cerise, plum, purple and blue-black.
