The Center for Young Women's Development (www.cywd.org) today announced that its executive director received a "Leadership for a Changing World" award from the Ford Foundation. Lateefah Simon is one of 20 awardees selected from a pool of more than 3,000 nominations nationwide.

The twenty-five-year-old Simon was first approached by an outreach worker from CYWD at the age of 17. She soon accepted an entry-level position with CYWD and was promoted several times until being appointed executive director in 1997.
